I am currently a senior majoring in Public Relations at Central Washington University, in the pursuit of becoming an event coordinator. I am a member of the CWU Public Relations Students Society of America, standing as the director of the student run firm, Central Communications. To complete my cooperative education I am working with Jerrol’s Book and Supply Co. on their 60th anniversary events.
The event I am working the closest with is the “Autism in our Community” Awareness Auction. This event hits close to home for me because I have an extended family member that was recently diagnosed with autism and it is also allowing me to explore my dream of planning events. The connection between the two is a perfect opportunity for my internship.
I am hoping my work with Jerrol's Book and Supply Co. will lead me in the correct direction for my future career. Helping me to gain references, build an in-depth contact list, and to increase my knowledge of the small details an event includes. Our goal of gaining local, regional, and nationalmedia attention will hopefully help me in my future with understanding who to talk to, the process of getting theirattention, and putting my name out there for the world to see.
