Person on the Autism Spectrum MAY display one or more of the following—
- Use of a “sing song” voice with or without actual words.
- Total lack of speech
- Actions that are unusual or socially unacceptable.
- Grabbing a persons cane and not letting go
- “flopping on to the floor”
- Out bursts or yelling at random times
- Grabbing a persons arm, clothing, or merchandise as they walk by
- Not looking at you or others directly or looking at odd angles
- Disinterest in others
- May invade your space or prefer to be farther away form than typical
- Interest in ceiling lights or fans
- Dressed unusually or inappropriately
- Laughing or giggling inappropriately
May show obsessive or repetitive behaviors of be fixated on a topic or object
- Interrupting conversions or constantly redirecting them to their own interests.
- Parents or aids focused only on the individual, no casual conversions or shopping
