Blogroll

Meems, you are in jamjams.

I was reading the comic strip “Luann” the other day in the Daily Record, and what she was saying perfectly embodies my feelings right now.  There really is nothing worse than being free when nobody else is.  It’s nice to have nothing but fun things to do, but it’s awful to have absolutely nothing to do.  This is what is occurring this morning.  I am sitting here, at my laptop, wondering what on earth I am going to fill this day with.  There’s always the random chores about the house that need to get done, but those sound like work.  There really is nothing to do.

At least I can blog about it, and use obscure titles to confuse the world.  That might be kind of interesting.  And there’s always Facebook.  Thank heavens for Facebook.  Okay, I’m done complaining now.  I’ll let you all get back to your lives.  I will continue to do nothing.  :(

Summer = FREE ICE CREAM!

It’s SUMMER!!!  And that can only mean one thing:  ICE CREAM!!!!  Yes.  I scream for ice cream.  It’s the best thing going.  I can never turn down a giant, ice cold, quickly melting, creamy, smooth, fluffy, delicious bowl of ice cream.  Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why you should be at Jerrol’s this weekend.  We’re giving away ice cream inspired by my very own great grandpa Don.  Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float ice cream, specially made for Jerrol’s by Winegars.  Get a free scoop while it lasts, and you get a quart of the stuff if you buy over 63.63 bucks worth at Jerrol’s.  Who wouldn’t want that?

Click on this link to see how the ice cream is made.  It’s fascinating.

Note:  What you have just read is an AD!  For JERROL’S!  Could you tell?

Now, pay attention class.  Since the end of school is here, I have given each of you an important task.  It will further your education by leaps and bounds if you choose to do it, and will cause in your failure in my class next year if you do not.  Here is your summer assignment:

You must use the phrase “that really chaps my hide” or the word “rad” at least four times every day for the remainder of the summer, or at least until I think of something better for you to do.  Why?  I told you to.   Now go! Speak!  Live!

The Buck has Been Passed

Hello, everybody.  I’m Jordan, and I have an announcement to make:

Since Rolf (my father) has abandoned his blog long ago, I am picking it up off of the side of the street and breathing new life into it.  It took weeks and months for this adoption to go through, but finally these words have a happy new home on my computer.  Yay!

As you can see by the revamped title, I am the fourth generation of my family to work at Jerrols.  It was my great grandpa Don that first started the business, and I am proud to carry on that tradition.  You may already know me as “Rolf’s daughter,” as I am so very often introduced.

Hopefully, I’ll be more consistent at this than my Dad was.

Delivering File Cabinets to the Second Floor in Ellensburg

Earlier this summer Kittitas County Court Advocates for Kids ordered a Fire King lateral 4 drawer fire proof file cabinet. No problem, we had it overnight ready for delivery. Ok, but it weighs 500 pounds and is as big as two refrigerators.

To make a fire proof file cabinet they surround it with cement. That’s right, the dip the whole thing is several inches on concrete.  Sound pretty cool until you count 25 stairs to the top of the 1888 building and no elevator to be seen.

We did some research and determined that the right tool is a stair climbing hand truck. But there are none in central Washington to be rented, begged or borrowed. So, we went and bought one. You can see a great video demonstration from the company that made the hand truck by Clicking Here.

After a little practice we had the 500 fire proof file cabinet delivered up the 25 stairs and into Court Advocates office in less than half  an hour.

Since then we have delivered a regular Hon file cabinet back up to the second floor of the 1888 building in Ellensburg. This one went to Terry and his crew at Olympic Credit. The slide show below is of that Hon file cabinet delivery-

Here is a slide show showing Maria, Jerrol’s Office Product sales representative and all star delivery expert delivering another Hon file cabinet, this time to the Western Art Association in downtown Ellensburg.

And just today Calaway Trading received a Hon lateral file cabinet delivered to their new second floor offices out on Dolarway in Ellensburg. Maria did most of the work on this delivery. It was tight, with three flights of stairs and few really tight turns. But no problem for our team.

Creamed Peas and Carrots

This is a recipe from my Grandma Green. She and Grandpa lived for years by Shelton, WA on the Puget Sound. I can remember when we would visit them and Grandma would always send us kids to pick peas, carrots and young potatoes from her garden for this quick and really easy dish.

Peas in the Fridge!!!!

Carrots in the Fridge!!!

All you do is boil the potatoes and carrots together until tender-crisp (what ever that means). Then you add the peas. While that cooks up you make a Rue from flour and butter. Look this up in a cook book if you are unsure how to make it. Add the rue to some cream and milk, drain the veggies, combine and eat.

Since Gerik is on a gluten free diet, we cheated and just made a mixture of cream, milk, butter and corn starch. It tasted just as good!!!

-Ok, so go cook something. And if you don’t have a garden, you can go to the farmers market and get everything you need to make this. So no excuses…..
